Red Bull in the crisis: worries about Verstappen!
Milton Keynes, Vereinigtes Königreich - Red Bull Racing has called a crisis summit after the second race of the current Formula 1 season in order to clear up concerns about a technical deficit. The Grand Prix in China, in which McLaren triumphed with Oscar Piatri and Lando Norris, presented the team leadership for challenges. Max Verstappen, fourth place, was almost 17 seconds behind the winner and was dissatisfied with the performance of the car.
Helmut Marko, Red Bulls Motorsport Consulent, expressed concern about the current situation. In the coming weeks, crisis meetings in Milton Keynes will have been announced in which strategies for improvement in performance are to be discussed. The team is under pressure, especially since the next race will take place in Japan in two weeks.
Current rankings and challenges
The situation in the design classification is tense: McLaren leads with 78 points, followed by Mercedes with 53 points and Red Bull, which is currently in third place with 36 points. Verstappen is in second place in the driver's ranking, only eight points behind Norris. Nevertheless, his previous excellent performance was not unmentioned, since in 2024 he had won his fourth consecutive driver title and celebrated the most victories (nine).
Last season Red Bull experienced mixed results, especially Sergio Perez, whose performance was not sufficient to stabilize the team in the constructor championship. Perez was released from the team after the season, which led to Liam Lawson's obligation. However, this is under pressure because after the first two races he has not yet scored any points and Verstappen has communicated his expectations of a competitive car.
statistical insights and records
Verstappen, who set the record for most points with 575 points in a season with 575 points in one season, also had to accept setbacks in the past. Overall, he experienced a phase of ten races without victory. Despite these setbacks, Verstappen was able to perform remarkable services, such as a breathtaking ascent from P17 to P1 in Brazil. The success of Red Bull and Verstappen should not be underestimated, especially if you look at their dominance in recent years, with Max Verstappen as the youngest world champion and with the most Grand Prix victories (10 in one season) in history.
