Penny in Ziersdorf: Conversion for fresh wild - what customers can expect!

Penny in Ziersdorf: Conversion for fresh wild - what customers can expect!

The discounter Penny in Ziersdorf closed its doors for four months on March 1 to carry out comprehensive renovation work. This is reported by the NÖN . During this time, the Billa on Wienerstrasse remains the only supermarket in the large community of Ziersdorf, which leads to an increased customer volume there. The measure is necessary after the bipa drugstore chain has moved to a new building to Großweikersdorf.

But that's just part of the large renovation at Penny. According to Welt , penny boss Stefan Görgens will push the company's transformation. The focus is on adapting to the increasing demands of customers, in particular due to more organic products and larger freshness departments. This new market hall concept is already in use in over 250 branches, whereby renovation measures are associated with investments of up to 250,000 euros per location. Görgens emphasizes that this strategy can significantly increase sales development because the converted markets generate up to 15 percent more sales.

Despite these positive developments, Görgens expects around 50 branch closings this year, since not all locations can meet the new requirements. At the same time, Penny plans to open about as many new branches and thus to maintain the existing branch network. The upcoming changes should also result in an increase in the organic content of fruit and vegetables, whereby cooperation with the Naturland organic association is planned. These matters illustrate the strategic realignment of Penny in the highly competitive discounter industry.
