Parking shortage in Margareten: Finally hope for residents!

Margareten, Wien, Österreich - The shortage of parking in Margaret should finally experience a temporary solution! Long-lasting construction sites, such as those at the Naschmarkt and the U-Bahn stop Pilgramgasse, are severely restricted for vehicles in the district. Local residents are increasingly being disadvantaged because they have so far not have any special residents' parking spaces. Mobility City Councilor Ulli Sima (SPÖ) said that no measures were possible without any requests from the districts. But now it is finally traded, as oe24.at reported.

Analysis of the parking Situation

A precise analysis of the parking situation is imminent. This is intended to show how strong the overpacking actually is before about 25 percent of parking spaces are reserved for residents in the coming months. District chief Silvia Jankovic (SPÖ) emphasized that a count will be necessary again after the subway construction site has been completed. This is particularly important, since the ÖVP Margareten was already applying for resident parking spaces in 2021, which was, however, rejected, such as explained.

In order to defuse the situation, a joint coordination between the district manager and the planning councilor Ulli Sima is sought. This could be the first step towards a solution to relieve the traffic in the district. However, a so -called utilization analysis is important, which must be commissioned by the district decision. The planning is still in the initial phase, which is why an early implementation is not to be expected. One thing is clear: the search for a solution has started.
