ÖVP boss Stocker: political chaos and lousy survey values!

In a dramatic turning point of Austrian politics, the ÖVP nominated Christian Stocker on Sunday as the new interim party leader. Stocker, who is also traded as a possible vice chancellor under the controversial Herbert Kickl, is under considerable pressure after the negotiations on government formation with the FPÖ have failed in view of the political chaos after the resignation of the previous Chancellor Karl Nehammer. According to the current surveys, Stocker only receives a measly 6 % of the votes in a fictional chancellor election, while Kickl would perform much better with 14 % with 14 % with 29 % and SPÖ boss, such as OE24 reports .

The situation is pussy because the Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen indicated that he wants to invite the FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl for a conversation. This is followed by the failed coalition talks, in which Nehammer had declared not to work with Kickl. Despite Nehammer's resistance, the voices within the ÖVP, which exclude cooperation, seem to become quieter, which, according to Van der Bellen, may open a new way, reports Enterprise Journal . Stocker himself greeted the president's decision to speak to Kickl, and explained that his party is ready to accept negotiations on the formation of government.

Political uncertainty in Austria continues to grow because the exclusive cooperation between the ÖVP and the Social Democrats remains breadless and more and more questions about the stability of the future government are raised. In particular, the FPÖ, which received the most votes in the last elections, remains the focus - Kickl has already expressed his opinion on the failed negotiations and emphasizes that his party is the only stable size in Austrian politics. However, Stocker is faced with a major challenge: Can he gain the trust of the citizens and stand up for the ÖVP in this turbulent time?
