KWG lowers electricity prices: simple and regional green electricity for everyone!
The regional energy supplier KWG has announced significant changes in its pricing and its services. From January 1, 2025, the energy work price will drop to 13.92 cents per kilowatt hour (kWh), which applies including VAT. This is part of a comprehensive reform that should make the tariffs easier for customers. The energy supply continues to take place entirely through ecological power sources from Austria, which is particularly important for environmentally conscious consumers.
A central aspect of this initiative is that around 20% of KWG customers already generate their own solar power and do not use it themselves. In order to compensate them appropriately, the remuneration price for self-generated PV electricity is set to 8 cents per kWh. Managing Director Peter J. Zehetner expressed his satisfaction that as part of a holistic approach to the energy transition, you can not only reduce prices, but also create fair conditions for the reimbursement. This competitiveness should not only keep the existing customers, but also attract new interested parties.
simplicity and regionality in focus
The changes in the tariff model are no coincidence. KWG strives to reduce the complexity of the previous contract structures that has increased over the years. In the future, a new electricity price model will be introduced under the title "Simply". This includes clearer tariff leaves, clear contracts and generally understandable delivery conditions. Zehetner emphasizes that this initiative wants to focus on the wishes and needs of customers.
Furthermore, KWG emphasizes its commitment to the region. The cooperative has established a strong connection to its surroundings in the past 100 years, and Peter J. Zehetner confirms that the cooperation with the municipalities in the Vöcklabruck and Wels district is of central importance. Outside the regional area, people can also become customers on the recommendation of a member of the cooperative.
Another point that makes the offer of KWG special is the possibility for customers to become members of the cooperative at the same time. This accession not only gives you advantages such as an annual electricity voucher, but also have the option of participating in general meetings and introducing your opinions and ideas. This strengthens the bond between the customer and the company and promotes regional participation.
new bonus system for loyal members
From 2025, KWG also plans to introduce the "KWG Faithful Work", a bonus system that rewards members for their loyalty. The exact details of this new concept are to be announced at the end of 2024. Zehetner sees this an excellent way to express the customer to appreciation and to promote long -term commitment to sustainable energy supply.
For customers who are interested in joining the cooperative, the accession fee was temporarily reduced from 75 euros to 15 euros. This measure is intended to encourage potential new members to actively participate in the energy transition.
KWG has taken clear steps in order not only to become more attractive for the existing customers, but also to actively win new customers. The commitment to regional projects and the focus on sustainability ensure that the cooperative will continue to play a central role in the region's energy supply in the future.
