debate about the order procedure
The choice of Schwetz 'did not take place without discussion. While the government parties praised the democratic implementation of the selection process, the Neos and the Greens expressed concerns. Stephanie Krisper from the Neos described the process as "non -transparent" and pointed out that it did not correspond to international standards. It emphasized the importance of strengthening the ingredient as a contact point for citizens: inside that feel unfairly treated.
Olga Voglauer from the Greens is in the criticism and calls for a reform of the nominating process in the next legislative period. It emphasizes the need for diversity and inclusiveness in the selection process to strengthen the public prosecutor.
In contrast, Norbert Nemeth from the FPÖ defended the selection process as democratic and transparent. He argued that the election in the National Council was public and the public prosecutor's office enjoyed a high advance of trust. Schwetz was described as "excellently suitable", even if not all parties voted for their choice without exception. The importance of the prosecutor was highlighted by both the ÖVP and the SPÖ. Martina Diesner-Wais, chair of the Volksawalschafts Committee, outlined the role of the institution for trust in the administration. Rudolf Silvan from the SPÖ recalled that the discussions about order mode has always been part of the elections of the folklore: and that "former party functionaries" were also possible to act in a non -partisan.
