Wels. The Jeunesse concert series is a fixture in the music scene of Wels and celebrates its 20th anniversary this season. A festival of music is promised, which, especially children and adolescents, bring the variety of sounds closer. This is often the first time for the young spectators that they are live in a theater. In conversation, Helmut Schmidinger, the organizer of Jeunesse Wels, explains why this event is so special.

The series of events consciously establishes contact with the youth. In Schmidinger's words: "I do not hope that we will grow up. We want to stay young in the program design and in the sense of the topics that interests young people." This approach is shown in the versatile programs that range from kindergarten age to upper level.

an exciting anniversary program

To celebrate the anniversary, Jeunesse Wels came up with a lot. "We offer a colorful mix of events ranging from Beatbox to brass quartets to opera stories," Schmidinger describes the program. Special highlights include a beatbox concert as well as the stories of the fox and bear. All artists are given the opportunity to play the young spectators into the music in a playful way.

The popularity of these events is also evident in the quick sales rate of the tickets. "This is a compliment to the content of our programs and the excellent service," says Schmidinger. In particular, colleague Barbara Pichler, who is responsible for organizing the concerts, receives a lot of praise for her dedicated work.

uniqueness of the live experience

The magic of the Jeunesse events is the live experience, which cannot be replaced by anything. "In a world in which so many content is available online at any time, the uniqueness of the live moment is irreplaceable," explains Schmidinger. This special atmosphere creates memories that remain.

In the two decades that exist Jeunesse Wels, there were many unforgettable moments. It all started with a fairy tale by Karl Markovics and the performance "Hansel and Gretel". Highlights such as "Commissioner Flunke" or the "sheet metal workers" are very popular today and were repeatedly included in the program due to the demand.

An important aspect that Schmidinger appeals is is the financing. "It is a challenge to find sponsors for children and youth projects because profitability is often not given," he explains. Therefore, thanks to the loyal sponsors, who together with the subsidies from the state of Upper Austria and the city of Wels ensure a large part of the financing.
