FPÖ celebrates victory in the Vöcklabruck district - ÖVP suffers historical defeat

In the Vöcklabruck district, the FPÖ is the clear winner of the latest National Council election. The freedoms were able to increase their votes by an impressive 13.8 percent and thus reach 31.8 percent of the vote. This result is above the average of 29.2 percent and is a clear signal to the established parties.

The ÖVP, on the other hand, had to take a bitter defeat. Compared to the 2019 election, they lost 11.9 percent and landed at 26.5 percent. "It hurts. It is serious," commented Member of the Landtag Christian Mader the Situation and asked to question the future direction of the party. In all 52 municipalities of the district, they had a loss of votes, whereby Oberwang was particularly noticeable with a decline of 26.1 percent.

fpö cheered on historical results

Gerhard Kaniak, Member of the National Council of the FPÖ, sees the election results in the election results of the voters for change. "This is a historical result and we have reached first place. The voters want a government with the FPÖ and a free Chancellor," said Kaniak. Even as a member of the National Council, he remains ambitious and would like to hold the post of the Minister of Health.

The SPÖ almost kept its result from 2019 and came to 19.1 percent, which means a slight decline of 1.1 percent. Markus Hofer from the NEOS also moves into the National Council after the party increased to 8.2 percent. Doris Margreiter, SPÖ district chairman, recognized the necessity of reforms and said: "We have to be perceived as a party so that we can also be trusted."

a broken dream for the Greens

In the Greens, disappointment spreads. Michael Hörmandinger, district spokesman for the party, said: "We would have hoped for a better result; eight percent are not satisfactory." The Greens fear that the progress, such as the climate, could be at risk under the pressure of the FPÖ. "We are not happy with the extreme pressure," added Hörmandinger.

The election result shows that the FPÖ received the most votes in 34 out of 52 municipalities. The government situation is tense for the ÖVP, since it is only the strongest force in 16 municipalities, while the other municipalities are majority with the FPÖ. Ambeplwang, which represents the last SPÖ stronghold in the district with 33.4 percent, is unusual.

The results in Redleiten with 48.4 percent and Pöndorf with 43.1 percent are particularly gratifying for the FPÖ, where the freedoms could impressively take on the leading role. The strongholds of the ÖVP, on the other hand, can be found in Steinbach, Nußdorf and Berg in the Attergau, where they could still be 39.2, 38.6 and 38.3 percent.
