Spooky meeting and creepy parties: Halloween in the Urfahr-Umgebung
The Halloween hype is just around the corner and in the Urfahr area there are a lot of exciting activities that capture the eerie mood on the occasion of this special day. On October 31, the streets are again populated by children who move around with the well -known saying "sweet or acid" to use sweets. This is a tradition that many combine with joy and anticipation.
In Mittertreffling, Sonja and Axel Harsch came up with something special. The two have devoted themselves enthusiastically to the creation of their own ghost train, which they lovingly call "Spooky Treff". After you have already experimented with figure decorations last year, you have now raised your commitment to a new level. "We found that more and more children came to us, and so we increased the number of characters," reports Axel Harsch. The result of this creative process is over 50 creepy figures that, as witches, ghosts, zombies and skeletons, frighten the audience - but without it becoming too creepy for the little ones.
Special initiatives for the Halloween celebrations
The ghost train is open every day from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. until the Halloween day, and even from 5 p.m. on October 31, and admission is free of charge. Visitors can look forward to an eerie experience with light and sound effects that are perfect for the whole family. The Harschs house is strategically cheap to the horse railway hiking trail, which also attracts many from Linz who want to experience the creepy spectacle.
But not only the ghost train attracts people. Various Halloween parties take place throughout the region. One of the largest celebrations is organized by the rural youth in Gramastetten and expects more than 600 guests. "Everyone who comes disguised receives a free welcome trunk," explains Karin Reischl. The area of the Brandstetterhof is decorated to create a creepy atmosphere, and the beer bar is humorously named as "imperial blood" and the punch bar as "cauldron".
Another highlight is the Halloween party of the Socialist Youth (SJ) in the old fire station in Gallneukirchen, where the creepiest costume is awarded. "The winner receives a weekend at the Attersee for four people," says organizer Simon Panholzer.
