New radio for the original driving environment: Free radio Freistadt starts!
After almost two decades on the radio, the Free Radio Freistadt (FRF) has taken an exciting step: A new broadcaster was set up in Vorderweißenbach, which means that the program can now be received in the majority of the Urfahr-Umung district. This expansion is the result of years of planning work and contributes to further enriching the local media landscape.
The official commissioning of the new station took place on November 16, 2024 after the license was granted by the responsible authorities. Harald Freudenthaler, the program manager of the FRF, expressed his thanks to the municipality of Vorderweißenbach and the Bernhardschlag volunteer fire brigade, because the station was installed on the roof of the fire station.
ceremonial opening and participation
A five-hour live broadcast from the Bernhardschlag fire station will take place on Friday, December 6th, from 2 to 7 p.m. In this program, numerous committed citizens from Vorderweißenbach and the surrounding communities will have their say in order to celebrate the new opportunity to hear and participate.
The FRF follows a special concept: it actively invites the population to participate. Any interested parties who have something to tell or share their passion are welcome. The “open access” means that the majority of the programs are produced on a voluntary basis - from a variety of people that range from individuals to associations and organizations. Over 100 volunteer radio enthusiasts between the ages of 10 and 80 are currently working on 70 regular programs.
diverse possibilities for all
It is particularly exciting that almost everything that creates creativity is possible. From the presentation of clubs to readings from authors to music mixes from DJs - the free radio Freistadt offers a platform for a wide variety of content. Local researchers can share their knowledge of the region, talk about self -help groups about their topics and present experts on the radio.
The FRF provides studio, broadcast time and a radio library free of charge. If someone needs support in building a home studio or using mobile equipment, the FRF team is ready to help active participants. In addition, further training offers such as audio intermediate and speech training are organized to improve the quality of the programs.
For all interested parties from the newly supplied communities, this is an excellent opportunity not only to listen, but also to actively participate and to share their own ideas and stories on the radio. Take the opportunity to contribute to the living media-based community in the Urfahr-Umgebung district. Further information on this topic can be found in a detailed report www.meinbezirk.at .
