Optimized emergency supply: new rescue systems in Steyr-Land

In the area of Steyr-Land, the emergency services are significantly upgraded by new medical equipment. The emergency paramedics from Weyer have already gained experience with additional medical devices for eleven months. In the summer of 2024, the equipment of the existing emergency vehicles was brought up to date in Bad Hall and Ternberg.

An important innovation is the introduction of the medical care center emergency. This special vehicle is occupied with a paramedic and an emergency paramedic and reaches the site directly. District rescue commander Stephan Schönberger emphasizes that this new element represents a valuable part of the emergency services in the region. He explains: "This element complements the existing and well -proven comprehensive range of the emergency services. With our emergency vehicles, which are occupied with rescue paramedics, we can ensure rapid and qualified help in rural areas."

Development of the emergency services

In addition to the emergency paramedics, there are so-called first-responder groups in the inner Ennstal. If necessary, this group of local rescue paramedics is alerted parallel to the ambulance and is therefore able to help quickly. The efficiency of the emergency services in this region is remarkable because they are available around the clock.

In the entire supply area of the Red Cross Steyr-Land, which includes four local points in Bad Hall, Sierning, Ternberg and Weyer, around 400 volunteers, together with 16 full-time employees and civil servants, do an impressive service. Taken together, these committed people raise more than 140,000 hours a year. Around half of this deployment time comes from the volunteers who do an indispensable work.

These various emergency services measures show how important it is to ensure comprehensive and rapid emergency care even in rural areas. With the improvement of the equipment and the creation of new uses, the quality of the emergency services in Steyr-Land is continuously developed.
