35 years of children's rights: a call for protection and equal opportunities

On November 20, 1989, the UN Convention on the Rights of Children was adopted, and this year the children's friends celebrate the 35th anniversary of these fundamental rights for children. In the Steyr-Land region, too, this important date is recorded in order to draw attention to the ongoing challenges with which many children are faced.

The children's friends have been committed to promoting the rights and well -being of children since its foundation in 1908. The chairwoman of the children's friends Wolfern, Daniela Müllner, commented on this occasion: "As long as only one child in this world happens, it is important to fight for children's rights." As part of the celebrations, the children's rights flag was raised in front of the children's fan home in Wolfern to raise awareness of these important topics.

The children's friends have made some central demands that aim to guarantee every child access to protection, education and participation.
