SPÖ search for successor: Stöger introduces upheaval in Upper Austria!
With a surprising turn in Upper Austrian politics, Michael Lindner has announced his retreat as chairman of the SPÖ state group and as a state council. This decision of December 1 brings massive changes for the party. The formerly nominated ex-minister and Member of the National Council Alois Stöger took the lead and signaled that the search for a new chairman should progress quickly. "I had more than 40 conversations," explained Stöger, who did not set up any time and also consider career changers to find the appropriate person, as orf oö reported.
A unanimous decision on the party executive gave Stöger backing during this transition period. Stöger will initiate a transparent procedure in accordance with the statutes, in which a successor is set up until the original vote. For family reasons, Lindner decided to withdraw from politics to spend more time with his children. The state managing director Florian Koppler praised Lindner's achievements in his tenure, which would have strengthened the cohesion and trust within the SPÖ. Stöger left open whether he can imagine a long -term leadership role and emphasizes that the mayoral election on January 12th only plays a subordinate role in his considerations, while many depend on the decisions at federal level, so Puls 24 .
Time is urged, because there is little room for delays. "I assume that I will not present a candidate in public before Christmas," emphasized Stöger, who deliberately did not impose a bans on thinking. The search for a new party chairman will be decisive for the future strategic orientation and the political stability of the SPÖ Upper Austria.
