City council election 2025: Green candidates present themselves in Zwettl

The preparations for the municipal council election in Zwettl on January 26, 2025 are in full swing. The Greens of the city recently presented their 25-member team of candidates. At the top of the list is the experienced city councilor Silvia Moser, who is already actively in urban politics and has the goal of defending the mandate strength of her party. Immediately after her, the reigning municipal council Günter Widhalm and the newcomer Evelyn Steindl, who deals as an organic farmer with the environmental topic "Plastic-Free Community".

Moser also integrated the two municipal councils Johann Preiss and Christine Herndler into the list, the latter with a possible poor performance from the local council. "We are observing an increasing competition, since in addition to the established parties, NEOS and the list of Zwettl will compete," said Moser.

The Greens rely on their proven core issues: health, social affairs, the environment and traffic. Moser is particularly important to create a meeting point in the municipal office for self -help groups and seniors. "There is no such meeting point in Zwettl. However, such a location of the exchange is urgently needed," said the city councilor.

Moser referred to numerous initiatives, such as the introduction of natural burials and the opportunity to be buried in the reservoir. Their commitment to the sensitization of violence against women is also seen as a great success.

In the coming election, the party will not only compete in Zwettl, but will also be on the ballot in the market town of Schwarzenau. This expansionist strategy has already been perceived as a significant opportunity to represent the concerns of the population and to gain more influence in regional politics.
