Vintage advent wreaths: Tips from Eferdings Gold Florist
In the tranquil community of Niederwaldkirchen, the florist Sandra Berger has continued to set a clear trend in the design of advent wreaths. After winning the gold medal at the 2023 World Cup, her creative skills bring a breath of fresh air to the traditional Advent decoration. She works at Elke Mitter flower trade in Eferding and chose an exciting combination of materials this year to give the Advent wreath a modern vintage look.
Berger explains: "I like to use branches of the Nobilist fir, whose greyish-bluish color harmonizes excellently with eucalyptus leaves, pampas grass and dried hydrangeas." This choice not only ensures aesthetic beauty, but also longevity. The Nobilistanne is known for staying for a long time, which means that you can enjoy the fresh look over the entire Advent season.
design tips for the perfect Advent wreath
The perfectly bound wreath requires a lot of skill and patience. Berger advises to integrate dry flowers and grasses right from the start, which gives the wreath its unmistakable vintage charm. "It is important that a sufficiently large hole stays in the middle and the wreath is completely bushy," explains Berger. She emphasizes that the blank must offer a solid basis to ensure an appealing end product.
"Ideal is a striped tire because the candles can be attached to it," adds Elke Mitter's owner. New this year are biodegradable sluggish sponges that keep the usual pine rice damp. This environmentally friendly measure ensures that the wreath stays fresh longer and the colors shine more intensely.
Another highlight of this year's Advent wreaths are the high pastel -colored candles in salmon, altrosa, mint and cream. These candles not only give the wreath an elegant note during the run -up to Christmas, but also transform it into a stylish winter wreath after Christmas. Berger explains: "After the festival you can simply remove the candles, and you already have a nice wreath for the cold season."
For everyone who wants to try to tie Advent, a certain patience is necessary. "You need about 20 minutes to tie and decorate for another 25 minutes," said Berger. If you don't want to take this into your own hands, you will certainly find a variety of finished options in the local flower shops that are just waiting to beautify the domestic decoration.
