In a shattering series of events in the Mühlviertel region, serious incidents have caused great excitement. On Monday, a 41-year-old man is said to have started his victims in Fraunschlag, where he shot a mayor, and then in Arnreit, where he met a former hunting manager, with targeted head shots. These fatal clashes were apparently triggered by long -lasting disputes in the area of hunting.
After the shots, the man fled his car, but his trail quickly lost himself. The police discovered the vehicle near the first crime scene on Friday evening, which led to extensive use, in which over 250 civil servants were mobilized. This search was associated with the greatest risk because the suspect was considered potentially dangerous and carried a firearm. Operations manager Markus Vorderfler emphasized that it was possible that the fugitive had moved his location out of nervousness.

In the days after the actions, the police followed a large number of information - over 400 reports were processed, but the search was unsuccessful for the time being. On Saturday, the police finally reported the find of the body of the sought -after, which was identified by means of fingerprint. The autopsy of the body is scheduled for Monday and one hopes to gain new knowledge.
Interior Minister Gerhard Karner and Governor Thomas Stelzer (ÖVP) thanked a statement by the population for their understanding and the emergency services involved for their tireless work. Karner described the search as one of the largest search actions in the history of Upper Austria, which was characterized by the cooperation of various police units from several federal states and the Cobra command. This was made possible by the extraordinary commitment of everyone involved.
Before the events, the district building of the district administration Rohrbach had been sealed off at times, as the fear was that the perpetrator could try to find shelter there. This highly dramatic scenario led to an intensive police presence in the affected areas.
