Sonja Haiberger and Roko: First aid playfully for children in the Rohrbach district
On December 5, the World Day of Voluntary, Sonja Haiberger, a committed volunteer of the Red Cross, was on the road in the Rohrbach district. Together with the popular figure Roko, she visited various kindergartens to bring the small important topics such as first aid and the correct setting of an emergency call.
Sonja Haiberger not only brings her knowledge and experience as an office clerk, but also has an exciting past as a paramedic at the Aigen local. After her baby break, she found her way back to the Red Cross family by founding the youth group. Roko, the figure of the Youth Red Cross, accompanies her on her adventures in the kindergartens. But that's not all: Sonja is also active as a blood pendant.
a valuable lesson for the children
"Roko teaches the children the basics of first aid, how they can act properly in an emergency and how to get help quickly," explains Sonja. Their commitment is rewarded by raying in the children's eyes, which is the greatest motivation for them. Despite the challenges that arise from the combination of work and the dates in the kindergartens, the cohesion and joy of the children are important to her.
Together with nine colleagues, she visits all kindergartens in the district. A highlight of the visits is the ambulance that the children not only see but also experience. This experience is intended to help minimize your fears in an emergency and to give you the feeling of security.
