Christian of the I. rules: Schützenfest in Menzelenerheide enthusiastically

In the heart of Menzelenerheide, the citizens' rifle association has a new king. Christian Rohrbach, only 22 years old and passionate shooter, got the bird off the bar with the 162nd shot and will rule the shooters during the 2024/2025 season. The coronation took place as part of a solemn shooting festival, in which the community came together to celebrate the new dignitaries.

The shooters were extremely accurate on Sunday. President Karsten Scholz welcomed the shooters present, the players' players, guests of honor and the members of the shooting club from Idar-Oberstein. The reigning king Dieter Stiers gave the first shot, followed by a number of successful shots that quickly led to the first prices. Andreas Scholten won the first prize for the head, while Patrick Hackstein and Thomas Breidenstein received second and third place for the wings. Marcel Kluck secured the fourth prize, the bird's tail.

royal aspirants and the exciting competition

When the royal aspirants were announced, four shooters competed: Lars Giesbers, Christian Rohrbach, Philipp Hußmann and Ingo Hußmann. The competition was exciting and brought with it an intensive atmosphere. The bird fell after only 1.5 hours, and the cheering Christian Rohrbach was appointed the new king. The mood in the audience was euphoric when he accepted his title.

It is particularly noteworthy that Christian Rohrbach has only been part of the shooting club for four years. He works as an agricultural machinery mechatronics engineer and not only shares his passion for shooting, but also his joy about the support of his queen, Amelie Burmeister. Together with eight other pairs of thrones, the new royal couple will direct the club's fortunes this season.

The following morning belonged to the Spielmannszug, who traditionally woke up the citizens at 5:30 a.m. and celebrated the freshly crowned king. Christian of the I. opened a price and cup shooting, where the shooters again demonstrated their skills. Michael Laakmann achieved a golden rifle cord, while Wolfgang Zimmermann won the Silberne and Klaus van Bebber the green rifle cord.

After the price shooting ended, the shooters focused on succumbing to the hull of the bird, which Florian Stiers succeeded with the 108th shot. He was honored as a "little king". Then the traditional rifle parade took place, which ceremoniously led all winners and shooters through the village.

The end of the festival was an exuberant coronation ball, in which friendly brotherhoods also took part. Volker Plegge, press spokesman for the BSV, thanked the population for the support, be it through donations or number of participants who had contributed to the success of the shooting festival. This day will surely go into the history of the Citizens' Rifle Association as a complete success, and the anticipation for the upcoming events is already growing.
