Open day in Ried: insight into child and youth welfare
On November 20, an open day was organized by the family and youth court assistance Ried as part of the international day of children's rights. The occasion emphasized the importance of the work of social workers and psychologists in this area. Since the family court was founded in 2014, followed by the youth court assistance in 2016, a total of 1,700 cases have been processed, which were either initiated by judges or the public prosecutor. The team consists of five specialists, including social workers: inside and psychologists, and is led by Alexander Eitzinger.
The main task of family and youth court assistance is to submit specialist opinions that are decisive for judicial decisions in terms of care, contact rights and adolescent offenses. Veronika Leibetseder, the head of the Linz Higher Regional Court, emphasized that the well -being of the children and young people is always the focus. "In the past ten years we have found our place in the judiciary with our expertise," she said.

Ried's regional court president Claudia Hubauer emphasized the valuable support that the family and youth court assistance offers the judges. It emphasized the important role in the punishment and the high efficiency of the team. Eitzinger, the team leader, thanked the employees for their commitment and cooperation with partners such as the women's shelter and the prison. Mayor Bernhard Zwielehner was pleased with the positive development and commitment of the team in Ried.
Another plus point that Leibeteder spoke, was the planned installation of a disposable disc at the Ried location until 2025. This should enable improved methodology during interaction observations, which can make the evaluation of family and youth procedures even more precisely.
