SKN St. Pölten: Investor access - away into the economic future!

The SKN St. Pölten is about a key 1-2 defeat against Stripfing before a key encounter in the 2nd division. On Friday the team will meet Ried and hopes to build on an impressive series of ten unbeaten games. These sporting challenges come at a crucial time when the team goes to a new era with new investors at his side.

The investor FC32 has withdrawn unexpectedly, but Dietmar Wieser, managing director of "11Teamsports", has taken over the takeover of 49 percent of the share. Wieser works closely with Wolfgang Ammerer and the St.Wieser family, who also come from Mank, about 30 kilometers from St. Pölten. This takeover was announced during a press conference on April 17, 2025, in which President Helmut Schwarzl, Managing Director Matthias Gebauer and sports director Christoph Freitag also took part.

new perspectives for the SKN

The new partner would like to put the SKN on a stable economic basis, far from classic investors or patrons. Ammerer emphasized the great importance of the association in Lower Austria and Wieser highlighted the uniqueness of the SKN in the 2nd league, especially with regard to the catchment area and the existing infrastructure. Those responsible were patient, open and confident, while at the same time they addressed some open questions and problem areas.

The economic framework in the 2nd Bundesliga are also exciting. According to a recent analysis, the league has achieved sales of over one billion euros for the first time. The cumulative turnover of the 18 clubs amounts to 1.07 billion euros, which corresponds to an increase of 282.4 million euros compared to the previous year - an increase of 35.9 percent. This development shows the potential of the league, which could also be an advantage for the SKN St. Pölten.

Financial framework and outlook

Especially in the areas of income from transfers, ticket sales and merchandising, the league has significant growth. The income from transfers has doubled to 98.5 million euros, while the ticket sales have grown by 56.7 percent to a record of EUR 261.2 million. Merchandising sales also increased by 71 percent, which underlines the loyalty of the fans and the market presence of the clubs.

On the output side, total expenses in the 2nd Bundesliga exceeded the mark of one billion euros for the first time, and here too an increase is 39.8 percent. The salaries for players and coaches have increased by 46.6 million euros. These developments illustrate how important a solid financial basis for an association like the SKN St. Pölten is in order to be able to successfully survive in the competition.

In view of the current developments and the uncertainties associated with the withdrawal of the investor FC32, it remains exciting to observe how the SKN St. Pölten will master this turbulent change.
