New cultural contract for Linz: Together into the future
New cultural contract for Linz: Together into the future
in Linz is a new cultural contract in planning, which should act in response to the challenges of the Brucknerhaus. The city councilor Doris Lang-Mayerhofer obtained a unanimous decision on September 26 in the local council, which forms the basis for the realignment of the cultural location. Together with the mayor candidate Martin Hajart, she emphasizes the urgency of increased cooperation between the city and the state of Upper Austria in order to strengthen the national and international profiles of the cultural institutions.
"The Brucknerhaus needs a restart," said Lang-Mayerhofer. It is emphasized that the cultural institutions have to work closely together to promote the big festivals such as the Ars Electronica and the Bruckner Festival. The focus is on the overcoming of old rivalries, which have burdened cooperation a few years ago since the termination of the theater contract. In particular, one has to recognize the possibilities of cooperation and bundle the strengths to promote cultural diversity in Linz.
The goal: unit across all borders
The spirit of cooperation, which became noticeable in the last year of Bruckner, is intended to serve as a model for the future development of the cultural location. The interaction of numerous initiatives has shown how important a common procedure is to increase the cultural width effect and to improve the quality of life for citizens in Linz. Lang-Mayerhofer and Hajart are committed to ensuring that the new cultural contract offers a platform to bring ideas and resources together across party borders.
Hajart is optimistically cited: "The termination of the theater contract in 2018 has shown how important a balance in the transfer payments between city and country is. The new chance that results from my resignation is an opportunity to open up to new things." The new cultural contract is considered a step in the right direction in order to be able to revitalize and enrich the culture in Linz. The unanimity in the local council is an important sign of the upcoming discussions with the state of Upper Austria and future cultural policy.
In this first phase, Governor Thomas Stelzer is invited to take part in talks to take part in the near future. The initiatives that are launched here could be decisive for the future development of the cultural event in Linz, which would like to position themselves as an important player in the national and international cultural landscape. Such a reorientation will not only affect the Brucknerhaus, but could also have a positive impact on many other cultural aspects of the city.
