In a recently carried out campaign, more than 1,200 samples from house fountain were analyzed, and the results are "frightening". State Councilor Stefan Kaineder now urgently advises you to join the public water supply where possible.

Most of the fountains tested opened significant defects and did not correspond to the standards for clean drinking water. This has led to increased awareness of the problem because the population must be informed about the risks. The climate crisis already influences the water balance, which can lead to dry -falling wells. In addition, the analysis shows that many house fountains do not meet the required structural requirements and do not deliver safe drinking water.

The state of Upper Austria offers a funding program to support the connection to the public water supply, where this is possible. It is recommended to use the offers of the country and carry out regular maintenance work on the well to ensure the quality of the drinking water.
