All clinics in Upper Austria receive seal of approval for self-help engagement
In the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic and the Kepler University Hospital, great attention has been paid to the support of self-help groups for years. Now the other clinics of Upper Austrian Health Holding have also received the important seal of approval "self -help -friendly hospital". This award sees the cooperation between self -help groups and hospitals as an essential component in dealing with serious or chronic diseases.
Self -help groups play a crucial role by offering patients and their relatives a platform to exchange and support themselves. These groups not only organize rounds, but also lectures and workshops that are useful for different target groups such as caring relatives or mourners. They not only offer emotional support, but also valuable information and assistance in everyday life.
The importance of self -help groups
The health councilor Christine Haberlander emphasizes the supplementary function of self -help groups for professional work in the healthcare system: "I am pleased that the cooperation between the clinics and the self -help groups is now further strengthened for the benefit of the patient." This shows how important these groups have become in modernized patient care.
Franz Harnoncourt, the chairman of the management of the Upper Austrian Health Holding, emphasizes that self -help groups represent a valuable enrichment for patient -oriented care. "With their experience-based knowledge, they support the support and treatment and are therefore an enrichment in the patient care relationship," says Harnoncourt.
Upper Austria introduced the "Self -help -friendly hospital" initiative in 2012 to further promote the synergies between hospitals and self -help groups. The seal of approval is checked every four years, and the newly awarded clinics have already organized networking meetings with self -help groups to intensify the cooperation.
In the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic Kirchdorf, for example, there was a series of information this summer in cooperation with the dementia service. Here, relatives were informed by people with dementia on social law issues and how to deal with the challenges of this disease. Such events show how clinics and self -help groups can work hand in hand to help those affected.
Another example is the day of diabetes in the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Clinic Steyr. Information about diabetes for children and adolescents was offered here, with the self -help group being actively integrated. This shows how important such gatherings are to offer support on site and help those affected to cope with their challenges.
The OÖG clinics offer self -help contacts that further promote cooperation with the self -help groups. This support also includes the provision of premises for meetings whenever it allows resources. This initiative aims to further strengthen the exchange between patients and self -help groups and to recognize their often invaluable help.
