Austrian U18 fistballers triumph at World Cup in Chile
In an outstanding competition in Chile, the Austrian U18 women fistball team, which also includes Livia Sternbauer from FBV Grieskirchen, won the world championship title. The team prevailed with an impressive 3-0 win in the final against the defending champions from Germany. "I am incredibly proud of all players. Your calm and concentration in the final were remarkable," said team boss Katharina Lackinger.
With this victory, the U18 women's team secures the third world championship title as part of their age group. They had previously triumphed in Namibia in 2009 and in 2012 in Colombia. The course of the tournament was a sign for success: not a single game was lost. In the preliminary round, the team defeated Switzerland (3: 1) and Brazil (3: 1).

The Austrian team showed outstanding achievements over the entire course of the championship. The preliminary round games were successful, including an exciting match against Germany, which was won 3-2. They also defeated Brazil 3-0 in the semifinals before they met the German team in the final. "Every player has contributed to this, and the team has performed strongly at crucial moments," continued Lackinger.
"With this medal we have reached our minimum goal," said Andrioli. Due to the overall strong performance of the men's team and the bronze medal obtained, the progress in the Austrian fistball can be concluded.
