Big search: Missed 77-year-old found safely in Altmünster!

A dramatic search in Gmunden ended today with a happy turn. On December 25, 2024, the authorities were alerted at around 2 p.m. after relatives had reported a 77-year-old as a degree. Despite intensive search measures, in which several police patrols, two service dogs, a police helicopter and a drone were involved, the senior citizen initially disappeared. The emergency services were supported by the city police Gmunden and fire brigade comrades. Finally, a fire department accidentally discovered the missing lady on the roadside in Altmünster and informed the emergency services. Police officers took over and handed them over to their family safely, as the police reported.

Promotion of dementia detection

In another important topic that is still being relevant, the first day of dementia of the Upper Austrian Health Holding will take place in the Toscana Congress Gmunden on October 24, 2024. Between 1.30 p.m. and 6 p.m., those affected, relatives and interested parties can obtain extensive information about dementia and their early detection. Experts warn that there can also be other organic or mental illnesses behind symptoms that indicate dementia. Therefore, a structured dementia clarification, as offered in the Salzkammergut Clinic, is of enormous importance. This procedure includes a thorough neurological analysis, clinical examinations and neuropsychological tests to ensure a secure diagnosis. In many cases, modern imaging methods such as positron emission computer tomography (PET-CT) can be used if the first tests do not provide any clear results. Dementia is currently not curable, but early detection can delay the course of the disease, which improves the quality of life of those affected, as has been reported.
