Festive Greens: Christmas tree sales in the Salzkammergut start soon
The Christmas season is approaching and the preparations for tree decorations are in full swing. In the Salzkammergut, this means high season for Christmas tree builders. Ursula Herzog, the managing director of Herzog.baum Samen and Planten GmbH in Gmunden, uses this time to optimally prepare her sales stands. In the coming weeks there will be freshly cut Christmas trees at various locations that should create a festive atmosphere.
From November 29, the first customers in Pfandl can select a Christmas tree. On December 9, the sale on Koaserbauerstrasse will start, followed by another location in the SEP on December 10th. Ursula Herzog emphasizes that the selection is diverse: "We have all tree sizes on offer - from 80 centimeters to five meters, everyone will find the right tree for their place."
popular tree species and their characteristics
The Christmas trees come from a cultivation in Styria, but are freshly delivered to Gmunden. The Nordmann fir, which is characterized by its robust needle posture: "The needles are very well in demand and the trees are nice and bushy and full," explains Herzog.
In addition to the classic Nordmann firs, the stalls also offer exotics such as noble firs, colorado firs and fraser firs. The noble and colorado firs have a particularly striking, bluish needle, but are more expensive in cultivation, which is reflected in the price. The Fraser fir has an intensive fragrance and is well suited for narrower areas, but has not yet been so widespread in many households.
tips for the durability of the Christmas tree
An important aspect is the care of the tree after purchase. Duke recommends bringing the tree into the heated living room as late as possible and paying attention to not placing it right next to a radiator, as this could dry out the tree. "It is also advisable to fill the stand with water and refill regularly," she explains. According to Ursula Herzog, most trees can stay clean and fresh until at least January 6th, provided they are well maintained.
Ursula Herzog also emphasizes that the individually selected Christmas trees often stop until January 6th and then traditionally be decorated. "The trees are always freshly cut and usually last a very long time," says the expert. These tips and tricks are particularly valuable for everyone who wants to create the right atmosphere in their four walls in the festive season.
