Two Styrians with 4.5 kilos of illegal pyrotechnics in Freistadt
On December 28, 2024, two young men, a 19-year-old and an 18-year-old from Leoben were stopped by the police near the Czech border in the Freistadt district. In the trunk of their vehicle, the officials found a worrying amount of illegal pyrotechnics and two forbidden weapons. Overall, it was about 4.5 kilograms of pyrotechnic materials in categories F2, F3 and F4. Among other things, these classes include dangerous fireworks that may not be sold or used without special approval, such as double striking missiles and larger fireworks batteries. This reported Meinzirk.at.
The police discovered the forbidden objects during a routine check in the afternoon. While the two perpetrators were sitting in the vehicle, one of the weapons could be assigned to a 17-year-old from the Leoben district, who was not in the car. He already stayed with friends in Freistadt, which also complicated the situation. The police received information about the dangerous materials and weapons that have now been ensured to prevent further danger to the general public.
