Apprenticeship boom in the Freistadt district: 732 young people start!

In recent years, the attitude of young people has changed fundamentally to teach. A remarkable increase in the number of apprentices can be found in the Freistadt district. According to the current figures, a total of 732 young people have started apprenticeship training. Compared to five years ago, when only 649 young people chose this path, this means an increase of 13 percent.

This trend is primarily due to the increasing attractiveness of the business location in the region. Christian Naderer, chairman of the Freistadt Chamber of Commerce, explains: "The construction of the S10 has contributed to the fact that many new companies in our district have actively trained." As a result, young people no longer have to commute to the urban centers in order to find interesting training positions. Alois Rudlstorfer, head of the AMS Freistadt, underlines this with the fact that there are currently three times as many open apprenticeships in the region as potential apprentices.

professional experience day: an appealing format for young people

In order to reach the young adults even more specifically, the professional experience day took place at the exhibition center in Freistadt last Friday. Here 72 exhibitors, including more than 50 teaching companies, campaigned for the interest of young people and their parents. With various activities such as skill stations and council games, a lively ambience was created that attracted around 2500 visitors.

Young people themselves were active at the event and gave the interested parties into their everyday work. Jakob Schwarzenberger reported, who completed his apprenticeship as an agricultural machinery technician and later as a car technician in the Pregarten-Gallneukirchen warehouse. He is now planning to acquire the championship title and emphasizes his positive experience: "I have never regretted switching to practical training." He recommends looking for apprenticeships, especially for smaller companies, since the diversity of the activities is often much larger there.

It was similar

Daniela Koller, who started her career in the Hotel Lebensquell and has now worked as head of the marketing and seminar area. She asks young people to take a closer look at professions in practice: "It is important to try out different ways to find the right way."

But the change within professional fields is not unusual. Johanna Mayrhofer is an example of this; She originally started an apprenticeship as a confectioner, but then reoriented herself to the office clerk and is now leading personnel development at the software developer "Count IT" in Hagenberg. Such varied career paths are becoming increasingly important in today's working world, with practical experience becoming particularly valuable.

The development that teaches in Freistadt clearly shows that young people are increasingly opting for practical training and thus helps the craft professions to be new. These positive trends are certainly due to the efforts of the training companies that position themselves as attractive employers.
