Bypassing Mattighofen: Traffic load should drop significantly in 2025
In Mattighofen, an important traffic project was launched that aims at relief of the city and its surroundings. The plans for the Mattighofen bypass - Munderfing come into the final phase after the last two construction phases come to the vote on Thursday. State Councilor Günther Steinkellner from the FPÖ confirms the progress of the project, which is intended to significantly reduce traffic within Mattighofen.
Already up to 60 million euros are provided by the Upper Austrian state parliament to finance the necessary construction work, with the aim of starting construction in 2025. The final decision for a multi -year obligation will be made in the upcoming state parliament sessions. The central concern of the project is to reduce the traffic load on the heavily used B147 and increase security on the streets.
relief for residents
In particular, the residents of Mattighofen should benefit from the changes. At the moment, the high traffic volume often ensures traffic jams and dangerous situations on the tight streets of the city. The bypass is not only aimed at relieving the urban area, but also reducing traffic in other town centers. Residents can hope for an improvement in their quality of life, since the new bypass should also contribute to the defusing of accident sites, especially unsecured railway crossings. For example, three such intersections are closed in the Schalchen area.
The planned course of the bypass includes a new connection point in Munderfing and leads over the Schwemmbach and the ÖBB route "Steindorf-Braunau" to a new knot at "Mattighofen Süd". A roundabout near the Lohberger and Gerner companies will form the bypass. Stone waiter reports that all the necessary permits are now available, only a final basic insulation is necessary.
positive effects on the infrastructure
"The bypass represents an important infrastructure project that not only relieve the region, but will also increase traffic safety," explains Steinkellner. The measure is considered a decisive step for increasing the quality of life on the streets of the region. David Schießl, the Braunauer member of the state parliament, is also convinced of the advantages of the bypass. "With this project we create a sustainable basis for future traffic development in the region," he emphasizes, and sees it an impetus for the modernization of the regional infrastructure.
Schießl emphasizes how important it is to give the residents noticeable relief from the passage traffic. He describes the investment as a profit for the entire region and its economic development. The anticipation for the upcoming developments in Mattighofen is great, and everyone is looking forward to the decisions of the state parliament sessions and the upcoming construction work.
