New barrier -free residential building in Braunau for people with impairments
A new residential building is being built in Braunau that benefits people with mental impairments. The facility is operated by Pro Mente Upper Austria and will in future offer support for up to 20 residents around the clock. This barrier -free living option is an important step towards independence and better quality of life for the people concerned.
The new house ensures that the residents in various areas of life, especially in everyday life, are extensively promoted. The project is financed by the state of Upper Austria, which illustrates how important this initiative is viewed at the political level. "Today is a special equal celebration for an object for special people. Own four walls are the key to a self-determined life for people with impairment," emphasized Christian Dörfel (ÖVP). The construction is part of the Upper Austria plan, which drives the expansion of residential spaces for people with impairments.
completion in autumn 2025
The planned house, which is located at Michaelistrasse 1, will replace the previous, smaller house that could only accommodate seven people. The completion of the new building is planned for autumn 2025. The new facility will not only offer modern living opportunities, but also include common areas and a care bath. A photovoltaic system (PV system) is also planned that will contribute to the energy efficiency of the house.
"We accompany the residents with psychological impairment to lead the most independent and self -determined life as possible," explained Gerald Zeininger, managing director of Pro Mente Upper Austria. This organization is active at around 180 locations in Upper Austria and focuses on the support of people with mental and social impairments. Numerous measures that are offered there aim to sustainably improve the quality of life of its clients.
