Foreign worlds: Urban art conquers the walls of Obernberg Castle

In the Kunsthaus Castle Obernberg there is currently an impressive exhibition that deals with urban art. Under the title "Foreign Worlds - Urban Art in Old Walls", the historic castle is transformed into a place that presents pictures from the hidden corners of the big cities. This successful combination of tradition and contemporary art captivates the visitors.

The exhibition is not only visually impressive, but also thematically complex. Various currents of modern street art and other related art forms come into their own on large -format and space -filling images. The aesthetics of mangas, tattoos and psychedelically inspired motifs merge in a way that illuminates the relationships between these forms of expression. Despite the different styles, there is a homogeneous overall impression that celebrates the variety of urban art.

a project with cross -border importance

The exhibition is part of a successful Interreg project, which was originally presented in the Passau district gallery in Neuburg Castle in the summer of 2024. The concept was specially adjusted for the performance in Obernberg. The second part of the cultural project now follows after the successful premiere and offers visitors a refreshing perspective on current artistic developments. According to information from the regional management Upper Austria, “airy, playful, playful, innovative, unexpected, ironic versions of visual worlds with many contemporary references were created in which all the senses are addressed.”

The exhibition "Foreign Worlds - Urban Art in Old Walls" was created in cooperation with the Passau district and shows works by talented artists such as Selina Baumstark, Amina Hartl, Alex Lehder, Jerry Skinnristare and Luky Vete. The vernissage took place on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 7:30 p.m. and the exhibition can still be seen until December 22, 2024. It is open on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., admission is free.

A visit to Obernberg is definitely worthwhile to get a deep insight into the fascinating world of urban art. The combination of historical walls and modern works of art creates a unique atmosphere that captivates and inspires visitors. This not only becomes a cultural event, but also an experience that goes far beyond the eye.
