Community in the focus: what the politicians from Zwettl think about the election
In Zwettl there was a lively discussion about the upcoming municipal elections in Lower Austria recently. Prominent politicians from various parties such as Margit Göll (ÖVP), Helmut Hofer-Gruber (NEOS), Martin Litschauer (Greens), Günter Steindl (SPÖ) and Gottfried Waldhäusl (FPÖ) gathered in the Tavern warehouse to share their perspectives and concerns with the public. The evening was moderated by the experienced journalist Irene Brickner.
At the beginning of the event, Margit Göll, who is both the Federal Council member and Mayor of Moorbad-Harbach, expressed her conviction that the municipal council election is above all a choice of personality that gives the citizens a lot of scope for helping to shape it. In addition, Günter Steindl, who works as a city council in Gföhl, reported on positive aspects of his community, which benefits from suits due to its favorable location and the good infrastructure. Helmut Hofer-Gruber, the deputy state spokesman in Lower Austria, emphasized the difficult financial situation of many communities and made it clear that hardly any community in the country was without financial problems. The role of party politics
Martin Litschauer, the Cort a former Member of the National Council and current Vice Mayor in Waidhofen an der Thaya, criticized the missing structure plan in Lower Austria. In his opinion, this violates an existing federal law. Gottfried Waldhäusl, the second president of the state parliament and also a city council in Waidhofen on the Thaya, advised that party politics at the community level should play a subordinate role. Instead, the general concerns of citizens such as health care and quality of life should be in the foreground.
During the evening, the citizens also had the opportunity to bring their questions and concerns. Numerous topics have been addressed, including environmental protection, the situation in the hospital in Waidhofen an der Thaya and childcare. This direct interaction between politicians and citizens illustrated the commitment of those present to actively discuss important challenges and find solutions.
The event was supported by various institutions, including S-insurance, Waldviertler Sparkasse Bank AG, the municipality of Zwettl and the state of Lower Austria. The initiative for discussion about these significant topics was generally considered valuable to strengthen the connection between voters and their representatives.
