Protests against eastern bypass: police officer: Inside, barricades, farmers desperate
In the region around Wiener Neustadt, there was a massive police operation in connection with the controversial construction of the east bypass on Thursday morning. According to information from the protesting group "Reason instead of eastern bypass", tree houses and barricades were demolished by the police during the protest around the construction site.
The Biolandwirt Hans Gribitz, who is affected by an expropriation notice, commented on the brutal measures of the police and explained: "I am so grateful to people who risk body and soul to protect my fields and the riparian from destruction for a senseless road project." This statement illustrates this from his point of view the mismatch between the interests of the public and the sub -problems of road construction.
reactions of the protesting
Irene Nemeth of "reason instead of eastern bypass" criticized the political decisions of the FPÖ and ÖVP. She emphasized that the expropriation and the destruction of agricultural areas could lead to devastating ecological consequences: "This course leads us to the next century of flood disasters and droughts. The 60 million should prefer to be in a traffic concept for Wiener Neustadt and the surrounding area! Ms. Mikl-Leitner, come to reason!" Your appeal amounts to that a strategic handling of the existing resources could be necessary to avoid future disasters.
In an official notification of the Lower Austrian road service, it was stated that the work on the eastern bypass was necessary in order to clear the approved route. This requires successes such as the removal of trees and other plants. In concrete terms, bank trees are affected in the area of the warm Fischa and the Fisha-Mühlbach as well as an area of around 1,000 m² next to Michael-Hofer-Straße. An ecological office identified nine older trees in advance, whereby the remaining plants are rather small trees.
In the message, it was also assured that a reforestation of at least 1: 3 is sought with typical native all -wing trees on already specified areas. This should create a ripple with over 4,000 m² and a shrub hem. "The first plantings should, provided that the weather conditions are cheap, should start in November 2024," said the Lower Austrian road service. The felling also takes place outside the breeding season of the birds in order not to add unnecessary damage to the remaining animals.
