New master's degree in human medicine starts in Wiener Neustadt
The Danube Private University (DPU) has launched a new master's degree in human medicine in Wiener Neustadt. This expansion of the offer follows the successful cooperation with the university clinics in Wiener Neustadt, Neunkirchen and Hochegg, where students can now gain practical experience. The Wiener Neustadt location was selected to benefit from the excellent infrastructure of the clinics.
In future training, various specialist areas will be covered. The focus is on pneumology in the clinic in Hochegg, which is the teaching of lung diseases. Wiener Neustadt itself will offer several disciplines, with plastic surgery in particular standing out. In Neunkirchen, on the other hand, the students are taught in psychiatry and orthopedics. The theoretical foundations of the course take place at the City Campus and in the Technology and Research Center of Wiener Neustadt.
difficult past and new opportunities
The approval of the master's program was by no means a matter of course. In 2021, the admission was rejected by the agency for quality assurance and accreditation Austria (AQ Austria). A decisive reason was the lack of significant cooperation with hospitals. "Our cooperation partner in Upper Austria had withdrawn his promise, which caused us to find a new partner," explains DPU director Robert Wagner. However, the current partnerships with the three clinics have now made approval and contribute to the stability of the program.
The master's degree takes three years and costs 14,000 euros per semester. This year, 100 students start their studies at the DPU, and the number will increase to 120 a year in the coming winter semester. Overall, around 60 percent of the new students from Austria come, which underlines the regional efforts for high -quality medical training.
and even more medical talents for the region
As part of a comprehensive strategy, the DPU also pursues the goal of training more doctors in Lower Austria. With the cooperation of the university clinics, medical research and teaching in the region is strengthened: "This partnership is a confirmation of our claim to quality and helps us to train the next generation of medical specialists directly in our clinics," explains State Councilor Ludwig Schleritzko.Another advantage of this cooperation is the provision of the latest treatment methods for patients. "The new course of study benefits not only the prospective doctors, but also the people in the region from first -class medical care," said Alfred Zens, board member of the state health agency (LGA).
The city of Wiener Neustadt celebrates the start of the master's degree as a significant step in its development. Mayor Klaus Schneeberger emphasizes: "Wiener Neustadt is officially a university city with the new master's degree. This offer will strengthen our health cluster and is an ideal addition to the existing health professions at the university of applied sciences."
