New rooms and a vehicle for the fire brigade Wiener Neustadt

On November 2, the new expansion of the Vienna Neustadt volunteer fire brigade was ceremoniously opened. With this increase, the fire station received an additional 800 square meters of space, which are now available for a wide range of uses. The celebrations were characterized by an "open day" in which over 350 visitors could visit the new premises.

The fire brigade has proven to be overdue. Fire brigade councilor Franz Piribauer described the condition of the old building as "disastrous" after it was in operation for over 40 years. A complete new building was originally planned, but due to various circumstances, they decided to comprehensive revitalization of the existing one.

conversion with a view to the future

The restrictions that occurred during the renovation process were overcome by the fire brigade members with a lot of commitment and teamwork. Commandant Christian Pfeiffer praised the commitment of his comrades, who were always ready to tackle during the construction work. A great focus was also on the modernization of the technology, whereby the entire electrical system was renewed in the building.

The new premises now include:

  • Ten standby room for up to 13 emergency services to improve the night readiness.
  • an area for the fire brigade youth with a special training room.
  • A sports room for sporting activities and suitability tests.
  • an archive with a future museum area.
  • Modern sanitary facilities and separate cloakrooms for women and men.
  • A training room on the upper floor for large damage.
  • a meeting room for the operational staff.
  • a barrier -free access option through a new elevator.

A highlight of the celebration was the handover of a new emergency vehicle that is particularly designed to provide important materials when there is a massive increase in operations. The solemn blessing of the device took place in the presence of various guests of honor.

The surprises of the day were also some culinary delights. So Rosi Piribauer, the godmother of the new turntable ladder, handed over a homemade Allen Saints' Strizel as a small gesture. In addition, the fire brigade received an oversized mascot in the form of a Playmobil fieralist from the Center Manager of the Fischapark, Christian Stagl.

A particularly exciting project associated with the new premises is the planned documentation about the Vienna Neustadt volunteer fire brigade. Director Judith Zdesar has collected more than 200 hours of film material that illuminates the various facets of the fire service. The premiere of the documentation is planned for April 5, 2025 in the Landestheater Wiener Neustadt.

There was also a significant promise from Mayor Klaus Schneeberger, who offered two additional jobs in the fire service. This is particularly important to meet the requirements of modern operations. Norbert Schmidtberger, the managing director of the area salary center, was pleased with this support.

The opening ceremony was not only a milestone for the fire brigade Vienna Neustadt, but also a festival of the community that brought together numerous representatives from politics, fire brigade and other organizations. Pastor Michael not only blessed the new vehicle, but also the fire station itself, which not only serves as a location for missions, but also as a social meeting point for the fire service members. "The fire station is more than just a building, it is an important part of our community," says Pfeiffer. The high number of visitors at the open house shows that there is great interest in the work and the premises of the fire brigade.
