Discovery journey through the museums of Waidhofen: Experience history up close
The long night of the museums in the Waidhofen district offered a variety of exciting insights into different collective and exhibition concepts. Visitors had the opportunity to get to know the past in an interesting way, and various museums opened their doors for everyone interested.
The visit to the Computer Museum of Andreas Zahrl in Reinberg-Dobersberg was particularly entertaining. Here the guests were able to marvel at real relics from the computer history, including old floppy disks and even video games that go back to 1977. The special thing about this museum is that it is not just a passive exhibition; The visitors had the opportunity to try the historical devices themselves. "It is an interactive experience that contributes to a deeper understanding of the technology of the past," explains Zahrl. There are no fixed opening times, so that interested appointments can make an appointment by telephone.Experience special collections
The Eichkundliche Collection of Wagner in Dietmann's also left a lasting impression. Alfred Wagner, a trained watchmaker, proudly presented his impressive collection of over 900 Eichkundliche devices. Among them are scales, clocks as well as electricity and gas meters over several decades. "Some of these devices even come from the time of the monarchy," said Wagner. The precisely calibrated "Wiener Klapter", which is exactly 1.8965 meters long and illustrates the importance of measuring accuracy, was particularly exciting.
In the textile museum in Groß-Siegharts, the various stations of the textile generation were clearly presented. The highlight was a faithful weaving house, in which a functioning transmission system drives the large looms and textile machines. Visitors could be led through the exhibition in two groups, which promoted the exchange and understanding.
