Eislaufplatz in Waidhofen: solemn opening on November 30th!
The preparations for the new ice rink in Waidhofen are in full swing. The opening, which will take place on Saturday, November 30th, at 4 p.m., is already very interested. The artificial ice rink with an area of a whopping 750 m² is opened at the EKZ Thayapark and invites all visitors to a first exit.
On the opening day, admission is free, and guests can slide on the ice surface by 7 p.m., get to know the new mascot - a penguin - and take part in a competition. The task is to find a suitable name for the mascot. In addition, admission tickets for the exciting "Silent Eisdisco" event are raffled among the participants, which will take place from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. during the Christmas holidays on December 27 and January 3. With this special disco, visitors can dance to music with wireless headphones without disturbing their neighbors or other visitors - a great experience that invites everyone to participate!
opening times and offers
The ice rink will be open daily from December 1st, at different times: in the morning from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., in the afternoon from 12.30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and in the evening from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. You can even slide until 9 p.m. on Fridays. However, there may be different opening times on public holidays.
In order to make the ice skating pleasant for the whole family, rental shoes and special driving aids will be available for children. After the activity on the ice, the catering companies in the shopping center invite you to a little refreshment, which makes the entire experience even more pleasant.
joint project
The creation of the ice rink is the result of a cooperation between the operator of the EKZ Thayapark, Reinhold Frasl, and the 14 other municipalities of the district. With costs of around 500,000 euros, the ice rink is created for a term of ten years and is operated by the municipality of Waidhofen.
The mayors of the communities involved are enthusiastic and see a model student project in Lower Austria in this collaboration. "The community cooperation, the cooperation with the EKZ and the guaranteed electricity price for the next ten years make this ice rink a best practice example in Lower Austria," said one of the mayors.
