Lower Austria in the health boost: 28 new supply units by 2028!

In a pioneering step to improve health care in Lower Austria, an agreement between the Austrian Health Insurance Fund (ÖGK), the Lower Austria Medical Association and the Lower Austrian Health and Social Fund (NÖGUS) was signed. The aim is to establish primary care centers (PVE) in all district capitals by 2028. These centers, which are currently operated at eleven locations and a children's primary care center, are intended to significantly reduce the pressure on the hospital samples and offer extensive medical care, as the NÖN reported.

nationwide health care by 2028

The chairman of the NÖGUS, Christoph Luisser, described the primary care as a "indispensable pillar" of health care. In a press conference, he explained that the new agreements should give the planning security involved and distribute health care across the board and evenly. A total of 28 new centers, including offers such as physiotherapy, dietology and psychotherapy, are to be created over the next four years. The extended opening times at the new locations in Mistelbach, St. Pölten-Nord and Tulln will benefit the population in the coming year, said ORF.

The increasing demand for collaboration among doctors promotes working in primary care units, since they offer attractive jobs not only for general practitioners, but also for therapists and other specialists. With the signing of the agreement, fair options for financing created to ensure the establishment and operation of these facilities, which takes into account the growing challenge of the health insurance doctors in Lower Austria. There is currently a lack of health insurance doctors in general medicine: 50 jobs are vacant, and even 33 in the specialist area, as the reporting of NÖN shows.
