The Austrian championships in cross -country skiing took place last Sunday in Tulln, organized by the Sportunion Tulln under the direction of chairman Johannes Blauensteiner. Both athletes of Athletics Middle Burgenland (LMB), Natalia Steiger-Rauth and Romed Rauth from Achau, competed in different age groups and impressed with their performance.The first challenge for Natalia started at 1:15 p.m. She had to complete three rounds on a demanding 4.35 km circuit, which is a considerable physical exertion. Ultimately, with a time of 19:39 minutes she took 39th place among the women and confidently secured third place in her age group W45.
Romed Rauth's struggle for victory
At 2:00 p.m. it was Romed, who competed with the men in a competition over seven laps with a total distance of 8.4 km. He showed a remarkable performance and was on course for the gold medal until the last round. But in an exciting finish, he only had to give up the strong Helmut Gass by the ÖBV Pro team for 11 seconds. Romed finally reached the 27th overall place of the men and second place in the M45 class with a time of 35:21 minutes.Both athletes were very satisfied with their results and proud to be able to receive their medals for the achievements deserved. The LMB warmly congratulates Natalia and Romed on their great results that were celebrated at the Austrian Championships.
