S-Bahn S80: Finally continuous 30-minute cycle for Vienna!

From December 15, 2024, there is a big change in the Vienna Transport Network: The timetable change of ÖBB brings decisive improvements for the S80 S-Bahn line. This route, which connects the West to the east of the city, will now run continuously every 30 minutes-even on weekends and on the night before public holidays. The important stations include Hütteldorf, Meidling, Hauptbahnhof, Simmering and Aspern Nord, which, according to the ÖBB regional-responsible Christof Hermann, enables an outstanding connection to the Viennese subway network. "This is a huge advantage for us and customers," explained Hermann, who also emphasizes the comfort of the cap connections.

new connections and faster travel times

In addition to improved time, early traffic is optimized during the week. Two new connections are offered between Vienna Central Station and Aspern Nord per direction. Monday to Friday, commuters can now descend from Vienna Central Station at 6:16 a.m. and 7:16 a.m., while from Aspern Nord trains at 07:21 and 8:21 am. These new connections are intended to help the commuters to cope with school and rush hour more easily, such as reported.

Not only the S80 learns this update: the western route is now completely put into operation again after the closures caused by violent storms in September. The trains between Vienna and St. Pölten will drive again from the timetable change, although the travel time from Vienna-Meidling to St. Pölten is now only 22 minutes. "The fact that this will happen on December 15th is a huge relief for us," says Hermann in relation to the rapid restoration of the train operation, as in the reports of ORF Vienna
