Norway overtakes Slovenia: Haaland shines with record gates

In an impressive performance, the Norwegian national team in Oslo wrote history in the 3-0 victory against Slovenia. Haaland was particularly outstanding, who not only increased his personal record on 34 goals in 36 international matches that evening, but also equated with the legendary Jörgen Juve, the previous record goal scorer in Norway. Haaland, a promising attacker by Manchester City, was already freezing in the 7th minute when he was a shot from Antonio Nusa, who was initially parried by Slovenian goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

But the Norwegian team not only had Haaland in this game, but also other players who contributed to the dominance of the hosts. In the second half, they increased the pressure, which finally led to another goal. Alexander Sörloth used a serious mistake of Slovenian defense to achieve the 2-0 in the 52nd minute. Just ten minutes later it was Haaland again, who transported the ball into the net from 14 meters and thus produced the final score of 3: 0.

league lead for Norway

This victory is not only of sporting importance for Norway. With a total of seven points from three games, the Norwegians temporarily took over the lead in their group and pushed Slovenia back to second place. In the same group, Austria was also able to improve its own position with an imposing 4-0 victory against Kazakhstan.

The other games of the evening also offered exciting encounters. France, without the injured Kylian Mbappé, was able to win against Israel, who was playing his home game in Budapest due to the Middle East conflict. After an early tour of Eduardo Camavinga, the French team got into trouble before they ultimately won 4: 1.

In Rome, Italy started strongly against Belgium when Andrea Cambiaso took the lead after a minute. Despite a red card for Lorenzo Pellegrini and the subsequent setback, when Belgium equalized, the Squadra Azzurra was able to assert itself as the leader of the group A2.

There were also surprises in England, where the home team lost 1-2 against Greece. Evangelos Pavlidis ensured the decisive winning goal in added time and gave the Greeks a perfect start to qualify with three wins from three games.
