New shine for the L 5055: Refurbishment improves traffic safety
In an important measure to improve the infrastructure in the region, the state road L 5055 between Schaubing and Untermerking has experienced extensive renewal. The work was recently ceremoniously completed in a ceremony, in which LAbg. Martin Antauer and Mayor Daniela Engelhart took part.
The need for repairs was evident, since the road state no longer met the modern transport requirements due to various damage, such as gutters and network cracks. With an average traffic volume of around 2,000 vehicles every day, it was essential to renovate the L 5055 to ensure traffic safety.
Details for renovation
The renovation work stretched over around 900 meters on the road and included an area of around 6,000 m². The existing asphalt layers were sanded up to five centimeters. Then a cement stabilized layer of support was used to extend the lifespan of the road. The entire renewal took place under a total lock and took about four weeks.
The costs for this project amount to around 450,000 euros, which are fully borne by the state of Lower Austria. This is part of a larger investment package in which a total of 93 million euros will flow into 400 road construction projects in over 260 municipalities this year. "A well -functioning road network is not only important for the quality of life of the residents, but also constitutes an essential basis for the economic activities in the region," said Udo Landbauer Traffic Council.
In conclusion, the drainage facilities and the road equipment were also adapted to the new circumstances. In the near future, a soil marking will also be applied to ensure clear visibility. The work was carried out by the Held & Francke company.
