The "Long Night of Museums" stands at the door and offers an excellent opportunity to discover the cultural scene in Austria. In this series of events, numerous museums open their doors at a later hour and offer a varied supporting program. From large, renowned museums to small, often overlooked institutions, there is something to see for every taste. Whether in large cities or in rural areas, both historical and modern exhibitions are illuminated.
In Lower Austria, a total of 117 museums took part in this campaign last year, this year there are even 122. This means that visitors can get an insight into the various cultural offers in an average of 30 museums per national district. It is important to mention that access to these newly discovered treasures is not bound by national borders. 660 museums with a single ticket can be visited all over Austria and in some adjacent countries.

Participation in the "Long Night of Museums" enables visitors to familiarize themselves with well -known institutions such as Albertina Klosterneuburg or the caricature museum in Krems, as well as to discover extraordinary places. For example, there is a private camera museum with over 1,500 exhibits in Ober-Grafendorf. In the Hermannshöhle in Kirchberg on the change, visitors can learn more about the habitat of bats, while the newly renovated Schubertschloss in Atzenbrugg can be explored after the famous Austrian composer François Schubert. In addition, the nativity museum in Vösendorf, which with its impressive cribs can put many visitors in a Christmas mood.
For children up to 12 years, admission is free of charge, adults pay 15 euros, with discounts the price is reduced to 12 euros. There are also regionally discounted tickets that are supposed to bring the culture closer to visitors.

In every federal state there are central collection points where visitors can receive tickets and information material. There are even two of these points available in Lower Austria: one at Rathausplatz in St. Pölten and the other at the Landesgalerie Lower Austria in Krems. These locations are chosen so that they facilitate access to several museums. The tickets that are purchased there are also a ticket for the shuttle buses offered that connect the museums.
But be careful: Visitors should find out about possible cancellations in advance, since some museums cannot participate due to flood damage in September. Examples of this are the "Galerie M" in Kirchstetten and the Höllentalbahn in Payerbach, which were severely affected by the storm. To ensure that visiting the "Long Night of Museums" is a complete success, it is advisable to find out in advance.
