Encounter days in Maria Taferl: Strengthening the Catholic Community

In the diocese of St. Pölten, the last few weeks have been shaped by lively encounters, since the diocesan instructions were actively on the road in the communities. Under the motto "Encounter days in the Deanery Maria Taferl", parish councilors, mayors and numerous believers were focused on. The conversations not only included the exchange about religious topics, but also about the concerns of everyday life in the region, which led to an enriching dialogue.

The new pastoral coaches, which were introduced in the diocese as part of the future process, accompanied these events. Vicar of General Christoph Weiss emphasizes the advantages of this more direct support: "The previous feedback from the parishes show that the accompaniment of full-time and volunteer employees is decisive." This innovation is intended to help adapt the structures of the diocese to the challenges of today and to improve the support of employees.

Expansion of offers and organizations

A pleasant aspect is the increasing variety of church initiatives and programs that are offered in the diocese. For example, members of the Loretto community launched the “Pentecost Mostviertel” event in 2022, while the Catholic Young Charter carried out a day's experience day in Seitenstetten for the first time this year. The Focus missionaries also regularly offer Bible rounds and prayer evenings for students, especially in Krems and St. Pölten. The alpha curmoses, which have been taking place in many communities for ten years now, continue to contribute to the deepening of faith.

These activities are part of a comprehensive plan for continuous further development of the diocese. In recent years, structural changes have been gradually made to optimize internal processes. In addition, the service character of the diocese is to be emphasized. Markus Schmidinger, who works in business and personnel management, pointed out that the continued support and promotion of employees is of great importance in order to create a committed community. "It is nice to see that more and more young people are interested in working in the diocese," continued Schmidinger.

The church in St. Pölten is therefore not only looking for new ways to get in touch with the believers, but also actively tries to offer a platform on which employees can develop their potential. These developments are of great importance for the future of the diocese because they are supposed to show new perspectives and strengthen the community.
