Tourism prices 2024: Mostviertel shines with creative projects

On Monday the time had finally come: In Waidhofen an der Ybbs, the coveted tourism prices of the country were presented. The awards stand for outstanding achievements in Lower Austrian tourism and show how creative and innovative the region is. The winners came mainly from the Mostviertel, including the Lunz refuge, the Purgstall campsite and the Ötscher-Base. Only the Eisgreisslerwelt in Krumbach could keep up in a category.

A total of 46 projects were submitted for the Lower Austrian Tourism Award, which means an increase compared to two years ago. An expert jury had the task of choosing the best from these special submissions. The audience was also involved in the award of the prices, which was allowed to determine a award winner by voting.

awards and categories

The Refugium Lunz, a charming boutique hotel at the church square in Lunz am See (Scheibbs district), won in the category "Sustainability & Regodial Tourism". This shows that sustainable practices in tourism are becoming increasingly important. The "Digitization" category went to KTech Engineering & Touristik GmbH, which successfully modernized the campsite in Purgstall an der Erlauf with digital solutions.

An interesting aspect is that the category "Total Tourist Experience" was not awarded in the Mostviertel. This award went to the Eisgreissler world in the humpback world to Krumbach (Wiener Neustadt district). However, the audience award fell on the Ötscher base in the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park, which illustrates the broad support of this attraction.

A remarkable point that Michael Duscher, managing director of Lower Austria advertising, emphasizes that almost half of the submissions were made in the "Regeneration and Sustainability" category. This shows that the topic of sustainability in tourism is now very relevant. "This means that this topic is extremely important and has now arrived in tourism," continued Duscher. The Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner (ÖVP) added that the tourism award should pay appreciation for their creativity and innovative strength.

All award -winning companies not only received a certificate, but also a communication package worth around 5,000 euros, which was created in cooperation with Lower Austria. This support should help to continue the company visions and to make the region even more attractive for tourists.

Overall, the awarding of these prices not only reflects the current state of tourism in Lower Austria, but also sets a strong sign of the future where innovation and sustainability are in the top priority. For a detailed view of the case, see the report on noe.orf.at .
