Celebrate two Borussia: 105 years of football in Neunkirchen

This day Borussia Neunkirchen not only celebrates 105 years of club history, but also the round birthdays of two former players. Jens Kiefer, known from the Oberliga, is now 50 years old, while Andreas Wittling, who is known as "Paul" in Neunkirchen, turned 55 last Thursday. The association congratulates them warmly and wishes them all the best, including health, because it is ultimately the be -all and end -all in life.

Andreas Wittling, who was born on November 6, 1969, began his football career in the youth teams of Borussia before rising to the active area in 1990. He played in the Oberliga until 1997 and also drew attention to himself in the regional league. The highlights of his career were the promotion round against 1860 Munich in 1991, which took place in front of a large backdrop, and the DFB Cup game against FC St. Pauli, which he lost with his team. After completing his active career, he stayed loyal to football and switched to the coaching bench, where he had successful coaching stations at various clubs.

Jens Kiefer's career

Jens Kiefer, born in St. Ingbert in 1974, had two game periods with Borussia Neunkirchen. From 1997 to 1999 he played 25 games and scored 14 goals. After a short guest performance at FK Pirmasens, Kiefer returned in 2000 and was able to score four goals in 36 games. At the age of only 26, he ended his active season to concentrate on the coaching career. He started his training in the youth area of his home club and later took responsibility for the U17 and U19 at the 1st FC Saarbrücken, before he also worked as an assistant coach of the professional team.

his first coaching job in the senior area was at FC Homburg, and he also took over the second and first team of SV Elversberg. His successes in the coaching profession are impressive, among other things he was promoted to the 3rd division with SV Elversberg. Kiefer also completed the training as a football teacher and successfully completed it in 2014.

friendship between Kiefer and Purket

Jens Kiefer and the former Borussen goalkeeper Sascha Purket, who also celebrated his 55th birthday five days before Kiefer, combines a close friendship that has been with Borussia Neunkirchen since the time together. Kiefer likes to remember the entertaining moments that they had in the Ellenfeld during their active time. "It sparked right from the start, we got on great immediately," he says. Despite all the teasing that they gave themselves to each other, the connection remained strong and even led to family relationships, since Purket Trauten was at Kiefer's wedding and became the sponsor of Purket's son.

The association sends the best congratulations to all birthday children and hopes that all their wishes will come true. Further information and deeper insights on the anniversary guests can be found on borussia-neunkirchen.de .
