Winter is in full swing, and with it there are great challenges for the homeless people who live on the streets. The frosty temperatures that have fallen significantly in the past few days have serious dangers. So that these particularly vulnerable people are not left alone, there are numerous offers of help in the region that are already available in this cold season.

A central point of contact in Saarbrücken is the Ingo's cold aid. Here the helpers are already open their doors and offer warm meals every day from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., but not on Tuesdays and Saturdays. In addition, private donations are welcome in the form of self -cooked dishes, so everyone has the opportunity to help personally.

heat rooms and mobile help

In addition to the cold aid, there is the heat room on the western clip in Saarbrücken. It is open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. except Wednesdays. From December 9th, the cold village on the Römerkastell will open its doors again. New roofing ensures better protection against the cold and more space. More and more city dwellers are finding refuge when the temperatures are falling.

help is also available from the SOS Express of the AWO, which is traveling in Saarbrücken and Völklingen throughout the year. In the winter months it is planned to increase the frequency of use according to the need to achieve even more people.

help offers in other cities

The help does not end in Saarbrücken. Places are also available for people in need in Neunkirchen, Saarlouis and St. Ingbert. The heat room in Neunkirchen, the oasis in Saarlouis and the "Treff EM Gässje" in St. Ingbert offer support all year round.

The importance of these social offers cannot be emphasized enough. Homeless people who live on the street are often exposed to not only the icy temperatures, but also other dangers. It is therefore important that passers -by become aware and where necessary act. If someone needs help in the cold, you should inform the responsible bodies to provide support as soon as possible.
