Safe hiking trail along the Schwarza: Initiative of Naturfreunde

The initiative to continue the river hiking trail along the Schwarza picks up speed. The existing water pipe from Hirschwang to Kaiserbrunn currently extends. With the new project, which was initiated by nature lovers, an important security measure for pedestrians and pilgrimage groups, which run through the Höllental annually. This dangerous situation on the busy federal road B27 is to be fixed.

The extensive efforts of Naturfreunde Austria in cooperation with the city of Vienna are characteristic of this development. Bundesstraße B27 is often an insecure terrain for pilgrims and hikers who are on this way. The planned construction work to continue the path to the former inn Singerer should estimate between 770,000 and 800,000 euros.

financing details of the project

Hubert Prigl by the nature lovers and Manuela Grabherr-Gappmayer, landlady of the Weichtalhaus, have campaigned intensively for the financing of the project. The state of Lower Austria has already approved generous funding for the "River Hiking Path Part II". But there are around 100,000 euros that the neighboring municipalities of Reichenau /Rax and Schwarzau have to raise in the mountains.
It is gratifying that a large number of private donors, including the Parkhotel Hirschwang and the MM Neupack Hirschwang, have contributed around 55,000 euros to financing. The remaining 45,000 euros, which cannot be covered without the commitment of the municipalities, take over the nature lovers.

construction work and time frame

"The missing, almost 8.5 kilometer long distance to the former inn Singerin, which had to be covered on the main road to date, will finally be built within the next two years."

With this measure, a continuous, safe hiking trail is created, which is accessible to all age groups. The path connects the Payerbach-Reichenau train station with Schwarzau in the mountains and is also connected to local public transport, which significantly improves accessibility for hikers and nature lovers.

Such initiatives are of great importance, because they not only promote security, but also the attractiveness of the region for hikers and tourists. The continuation of the river hiking trail will thus make a fundamental contribution to improving the infrastructure in this beautiful landscape.
