Definitely work on the A8: Where and when you have to count on closures

Autobahn GmbH has announced a complete blocking of the A8 in Saarland this weekend, which begins on Saturday, November 16, 2024. This measure is necessary to carry out clearing work in the area of the noise barrier in Neunkirchen-Furpach.

The blocking primarily affects the Pirmasens directional lane between the Neunkirchen-Oberstadt and Wellesweiler junction and is expected to continue until Sunday evening, November 17, 2024. Autobahn GmbH points out that a once Lane Traffic Flow is set up on the Luxembourg line between Wellesweiler and Neunkirchen-Oberstadt to pass traffic past the construction sites.

Details on the diversions

cars and trucks have to fall back on diversions during the blocking. From the Neunkirchen-Oberstadt junction, the traffic to Pirmasens via the L114, Zweibrücker/Limbacher Straße, is led by Furpach to the Neunkirchen-Kohlhof junction. These diversions are specially set up to reduce the traffic load during the construction work.

In addition, Autobahn GmbH warns that traffic disorders are not excluded despite working on a weekend. Drivers should involve possible disorders in their route planning and in particular observe reports on radio. It is also recommended to plan enough time for the detour route.

The importance of these measures lies in the improvement of the noise protection measures, which should contribute to the quality of life in the region in the long term. With this approach, the aim is to minimize existing environmental pollution from traffic noise, which is of enormous importance for residents in Neunkirchen-Furpach.
