Illingen Wustweiler: Fire brigade prevents flooding at the last minute

in the municipality of Illingen, more precisely in the Wustweiler district, there was a massive use of the fire brigade and the technical relief organization (THW) on Tuesday. The reason for this was the persistent rainfalls, which brought the risk of serious flood. The situation was reminiscent of the difficult flood events that had already taken place at the Seelbach at the beginning of the year. At the time, these had already endangered houses in the area.

The spokesman for the Illingen fire brigade, Andreas Kuhn, announced that up to 90 emergency services were on site to banish the impending danger. It was reported that the water was only a few centimeters in front of it to flood the dam on the Seelbach. Such an incident could have had catastrophic effects on the adjacent residential areas.

efficient measures of the emergency services

The firefighters worked tirelessly and used pumps that provided an impressive pumping performance of up to 8,000 liters per minute. Thanks to these fast and efficient measures, the situation could be slowly calmed down from around 9:30 p.m. Kuhn confirmed that over a meter of water was successfully pumped out, which relieved the dam. Shortly before midnight there was an all -clear: the fire brigade withdrew while the THW took over the remaining tasks.

For Wednesday, security work from the municipality on the Damm is now planned. These measures are of great importance to prevent future flood events and to ensure the safety of the residents concerned. The situation shows how important a well -organized emergency reaction is to counteract potential disasters and protect the community.
